Shell / BGC Medical - Basrah Gas Company / Shell Medical in Glasgow

Procedure:

The Shell / BGC medical requires an extensive medical examination and blood / urine tests.

You should allow approx 1 hour for the medical.

The Shell / BGC Medical includes:

General Medical Examination (Genito-urinary, Rectum-Anus only if indicated)

Vision tests

Audiogram (only for ERT members)

Spirometry (only for ERT members)

ECG

Laboratory Examinations

Blood Group

Biochemistry, Haematology & Cholesterol Profile

HIV, VDRL, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C (for visa/work permit)

Urinalysis

Vaccinations - Iraq

Courses or boosters usually advised: Diphtheria; Tetanus.

Other vaccines to consider: Hepatitis A; Rabies; Typhoid.

Selectively advised vaccines - only for those individuals at highest risk: Hepatitis B.

No yellow fever vaccination certificate required for this country.

Malaria not normally present unless the illness was contracted abroad.

Travellers and transferees should be up to date with routine vaccinations such as measles/mumps/rubella (MMR), and diphtheria/tetanus/pertussis and polio (DTaP/IPV).

Please bring with you:

Photographic ID (ie. passport, driving licence)

A hardcopy of the:

-- Q1 - Health Status Questionnaire - with all the parts completed by you

-- E1 - Medical Examination Record

-- FTW certificate - BGC Fitness to Work Certificate - with the top part completed

-- E2 form - Contractor Certificate for Fitness to Work in BGC Projects - with the top part completed

Your glasses or contact lenses (if worn)

Copies of any significant hospital letters, abnormal results etc

E-mail us a copy of your vaccination records before the appointment

The medical is carried out at GP Matters (24 Buckingham Terrace, Glasgow, G12 8ED).

After your Shell / BGC Medical:

Please allow 4-5- working days for your Shell / BGC medical to be finalised. This will then be e-mailed to you and the original documents can be collected at the clinic or posted to you.

Validity

Unless foreseen by local laws and regulations or specified by the examining physician due to health surveillance limitations /restrictions, the validity of the Health Certificate shall be two years from the medical examination date.
